Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Hillsboro/Central Valley. The Lions came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Carrington extended the longest winning streak in A Region 1 this week by beating Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm, 50-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Cardinals.
Bryce Meehl threw for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 10-20 with 2 interceptions.
Dawson Peterson was the best receiver in the league this week as Milnor/North Sargent topped Kidder County co-op [Steele-Dawson/Tappen/Sterling]. Peterson racked up 2 receptions for 82 yards. Wyatt Mund helped Milnor/North Sargent's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.
Meehl put up the best numbers through the air as Oakes beat Northern Cass. Meehl's favorite target this week was Cole Ehrlin, who caught 3 passes for 63 yards.
Seth Abaurrea was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 176 yards as Carrington beat the Pirates. Jacob Fandrich also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
Leading A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards, the Tornadoes' Meehl and Ethan Zetocha have proven to be a lethal combination. Meehl has thrown for 631 yards this season, while Zetocha has 10 catches for 219 yards. Abaurrea from Marty Hochhalter's team leads the league in rushing with 573 yards.
The Cardinals are in first place, while the Jaguars are in sixth place.
Oakes made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,521 from 10,605. The improvement came about via a 34-6 victory over Northern Cass last week.
