Given Cavalier's advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while St. John is ranked 99th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. John's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cashmyn Belgarde, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Ezekiel Parisien who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parisien has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madden Parisien, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Cavalier's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for St. John, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Cavalier will square off against Langdon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. John, they will be playing at home against Dunseith at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dunseith has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
