The Lugoff-Elgin Demons will head out on the road to face off against the A.C. Flora Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Lugoff-Elgin had to suffer through a rough 48-21 loss at the hands of Richland Northeast. Lugoff-Elgin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Meanwhile, A.C. Flora's 13-1 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a serious blow against Irmo on Friday, falling 49-3. While losing is never fun, A.C. Flora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Irmo is ranked third).
Lugoff-Elgin's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Richland Northeast, Ridge View, and Airport. As for A.C. Flora, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Lugoff-Elgin was dealt a bruising 54-7 defeat at the hands of A.C. Flora when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Lugoff-Elgin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
