It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Central Bears had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by the Hornets on the road to the tune of 89-54. Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.
David Villarroel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Braden Joyner was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and six steals.
Defeat or not, Weeki Wachee got some senior leadership from Matthew Stumpf and Jean Garcia. Stumpf scored 14 points, while Garcia. scored 14 points along with two steals.
Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Weeki Wachee, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season.
Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Central is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Florida (they are ranked 177th, while Hernando is ranked 530th). Weeki Wachee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
