Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission Christian Takes a Loss

Shawnee Mission Christian lost against Heritage Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Shawnee Mission Christian Mustangs lost 54-28 to the Heritage Christian Eagles. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-10.

Despite the loss, Shawnee Mission Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Wilson dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Wilson a new career-high in steals (seven). Another player making a difference was Isabella Anderson, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Shawnee Mission Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Shawnee Mission Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Heritage Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shawnee Mission Christian has already played their next matchup (against Eagle Heights Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Heritage Christian will challenge Whitefield Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whitefield Academy's defense has only allowed 23.8 points per game this season, so Heritage Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.
