Molina and Sunset are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Molina Jaguars will head out on the road to square off against the Sunset Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunset took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Molina, who comes in off a win.
Molina put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past South Oak Cliff 47-25. The win made it back-to-back wins for Molina.
Molina's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from T'erricka Gassaway, who scored 16 points. Gassaway continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Theayah Guidry, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Sunset's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 41-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillcrest. Sunset has struggled against Hillcrest recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Molina is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Sunset, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Molina skirted past Sunset 39-37 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Molina since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
