Penns Manor has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They and the West Shamokin Wolves will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Penns Manor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Penns Manor earned a 53-42 win over the Panthers. The win was all the more spectacular given Penns Manor's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 597th, while the Panthers are ranked 279th).
Penns Manor relied on the efforts of Alex Polenik, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, and Carter Smith, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Amin Lieb was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, West Shamokin blew past the Red Dragons, posting a 65-38 win on the road.
Penns Manor's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14. As for West Shamokin, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Penns Manor suffered a grim 54-32 defeat to the Wolves in their previous meeting back in January. Can Penns Manor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
