Carolina Academy picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They blew past Southside 15-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Jayden Barton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Aidan Alston and Jayce Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Alston scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Thompson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Thompson a new career-high. Stelios Karambasis was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Carolina Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southside only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Thornwell had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Berea by a score of 14-9 on Saturday.
Bryce English was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Zach Crowe, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Carolina Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Thornwell, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Carolina Academy couldn't quite finish off Thornwell in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can Carolina Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
