The Eastern Randolph Wildcats were the 71-44 winner over the Wheatmore Warriors when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Eastern Randolph took a 46-32 bruising from Wheatmore on Friday. Eastern Randolph has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kenly Whitaker and Ziera Watson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Whitaker dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Watson scored six points along with nine rebounds. Whitaker scored a full 53.1% of Eastern Randolph's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Eastern Randolph's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Wheatmore, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Eastern Randolph will head out on the road to face off against Southwestern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwestern Randolph presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eastern Randolph in North Carolina (Southwestern Randolph is ranked 72nd, while Eastern Randolph is ranked 430th). As for Wheatmore, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Oak Grove at 6:00 p.m.
