The Athens Warriors will be playing at home against the Red Bud Musketeers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Athens will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
Athens put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 33-7 margin over Southwestern. Given Athens' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Southwestern is ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Athens' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cory Craig, who rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Camren Bigard, who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Red Bud aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Friday extended their overall winning streak to six. They didn't even let Chester onto the board and left with a 7-0 win.
Their wins bumped Athens to 8-2 and Red Bud to 7-2.
