4A Metro Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Ian Mckinnon Tops All Others This Week
Starting off the list is Southeast Guilford's Ian Mckinnon, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Mckinnon forced a fumble and made ten total tackles. The effort also marked the most rushing yards (82) he has had since back in September of 2023. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Southeast Guilford is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.
For the season, Mckinnon has averaged 4.5 total tackles per game. It gets even more impressive: after six games last season, he was only averaging 23.33 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 50.33 rushing yards.

Brandon Posts Huge Game in 49-7 Win
Grimsley picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Faizon Brandon. Ragsdale had no answer to Brandon as he threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards.
Unfortunately for Ragsdale, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Brandon. Brandon threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes the last time he and the Tigers duked it out back in October of 2023.

Mitchell Summers Goes Supernova in Grimsley Win
Grimsley picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Mitchell Summers. Ragsdale had no answer to Summers as he rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Summers is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season.
If history really does repeat itself, Summers might just drop another big game when he faces off against Southwest Guilford on Friday. When Summers last faced the Cowboys back in October of 2023, he rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries.
