The Greater Latrobe Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Butler Golden Tornado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Greater Latrobe unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a serious blow against McKeesport, falling 42-14. While losing is never fun, Greater Latrobe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while McKeesport is ranked 25th).
The losing side was boosted by John Wetzel, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Butler's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 52-12 loss at the hands of McDowell.
Despite the loss, Butler saw an underclassman step up: Mark Klemz rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
The losses dropped Greater Latrobe to 6-3 and Butler to 2-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Greater Latrobe has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Butler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Greater Latrobe strolled past Butler in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 28-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greater Latrobe since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
