The Rangely Panthers stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Plateau Valley, posting a 56-26 win at home. The victory was nothing new for Rangely as they're now sitting on four straight.
Rangely got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryann Mergelman out in front who scored nine points along with nine steals. Another player making a difference was Annika Cantrell, who scored seven points along with eight steals.
Plateau Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emaline Ealey, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Ealey also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Meloni Miller, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Rangely's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.22 points. As for Plateau Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rangely will take on Caprock Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Caprock Academy's defense has only allowed 25.2 points per game this season, so Rangely's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Plateau Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Hayden at 6:30 p.m. Hayden comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
