Basketball Game Preview: J.F. Webb Warriors vs. Vance County Vipers

J.F. Webb and Vance County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The J.F. Webb Warriors will host the Vance County Vipers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (J.F. Webb has four straight wins, Vance County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, J.F. Webb needed a bit of extra time to put away Louisburg. They walked away with a 61-54 victory over the Warriors.

J.F. Webb's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jaydan Hester, who went 7 for 13 en route to 25 points and three steals, and Daniel Wright, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Wright's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Barnette, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

J.F. Webb smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Vance County played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 88-44 defeat at the hands of South Granville. The Vipers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-19.

J.F. Webb pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points per game. As for Vance County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

J.F. Webb came out on top in a nail-biter against Vance County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 71-69. Will J.F. Webb repeat their success, or does Vance County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
