The Huguenot Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Richmond City School of the Arts 52-46. The matchup was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but Huguenot couldn't quite close it out.
When it comes to explaining why Huguenot lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaemon Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Christian Hazel, who scored nine points.
Huguenot dropped their record down to 6-10 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Richmond City School of the Arts, their victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-13.
Huguenot will head out on the road to take on Clover Hill at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Richmond City School of the Arts, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Powhatan at 7:15 p.m. Powhatan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Richmond City School of the Arts in Virginia (Powhatan is ranked 177th, while Richmond City School of the Arts is ranked 358th).
