Parkside and Friendship Collegiate Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Parkside Eagles will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. Parkside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Friendship Collegiate Academy likes a good challenge.
Parkside scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Thurgood Marshall Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 86-25 victory at home. Parkside has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 27 points or more this season.
Parkside relied on the efforts of Semaj Marshall, who scored 19 points, and Eliajh Butts, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasson James, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, even though King's Christian Academy scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Friendship Collegiate Academy still came out on top. Friendship Collegiate Academy snuck past King's Christian Academy with a 66-60 win. Given Friendship Collegiate Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 20th in District of Columbia, while King's Christian Academy is ranked 120th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Parkside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-14.
Parkside didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Friendship Collegiate Academy in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 65-60 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Friendship Collegiate Academy's Keyon Starkey-webb, who scored 28 points along with four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Parkside still be able to contain Starkey-webb? There's only one way to find out.
