Mid-East recap Oct. 17, 2012
Silver Lake extended the longest winning streak in Mid-East this week by beating Pleasant Ridge, 55-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Eagles.
Riley County moved up to 77 from 119 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of besting Nemaha Valley 28-12.
Tyler Dillon was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 293 yards on 33 carries as Rock Creek beat Mission Valley. Teammate Jimmie Goodmiller added to the ground attack by rushing for 88 yards.
Hammer was the best wideout in Mid-East this week as the Bulldogs bested the Vikings. Hammer racked up two receptions for 47 yards. Nick Reesor helped Rossville's passing attack out by catching three balls for 25 yards.
Zach Haya made the biggest impact on defense this week as Wabaunsee beat Northern Heights. The 5-foot-6 junior grabbed one interception and recorded one fumble.
Dailin Kruger put up the best numbers through the air as Silver Lake topped the Rams. He finished with a total of seven completions for 111 yards and three touchdowns. Kruger's favorite target this week was Brendan Vega, who caught two passes for 37 yards.
5-foot-8 quarterback Dalton Catron of Rossville is the league leader in passing yards this season with 939. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. On the ground, the Chargers' Ethan Miller has rushed for 1219 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jeff Torkelson. The Silver Lake star has 22 catches for 295 yards.
The Mustangs' Dillon needs only 78 yards against the Raiders next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 112 carries Dillon has accumulated 922 yard this year.
Cj Hamilton's team took down Pleasant Ridge 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kruger ran for 86 yards in the win.
