You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
West Plains got a 42 - 0 win over Kickapoo last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Brayden Lidgard. Lidgard rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Lidgard as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Christian Brothers (1st in the power rankings) and DeSmet Jesuit (4th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Everything went Christian Brothers's way against DeSmet Jesuit as it secured a 49 - 14 win. 49 is shaping up to be Christian Brothers's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its victory over Chaminade the game before.
Movin on Up
Fox was the big favorite in its game against Mehlville last week, and for good reason. Fox picked up a decisive 'W' against Mehlville, finishing up at 50 - 13. Fox's margin of victory (37 points) marked the biggest win the team has had all season. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by 15, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Staley (3rd in the power rankings) and Lee's Summit West (2nd). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Only one team will win this week, so we'll see which team fails to repeat its success.
