The Angleton Christian Warriors are on the road again and plays Cornerstone Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Angleton Christian will be strutting in after a win while the will be coming in after a loss.
Even though The Connection School of Houston scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Angleton Christian still came out on top. Angleton Christian escaped with a win against the Bears by the margin of a single free throw, 56-55.
Angleton Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Joel Lovell, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Graham Rosa, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elan Bowman, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian Academy came up short against the Tigers on Tuesday and fell 57-44. Cornerstone Christian Academy has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Seth Younts, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Shayne Cox was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Angleton Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Angleton Christian have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Cornerstone Christian Academy, though, as they've only made 27.8% of their threes this season. Given Angleton Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the will need to find a way to close that gap.
Angleton Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 61-57 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Angleton Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
