The St. Francis Sharks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seaside. St. Francis has not had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Sam Braun and Joseph Rose certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Braun scored 21 points, while Rose scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Braun has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. Jacob Jimenez was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Even though they lost, St. Francis were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
St. Francis has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season. As for Seaside, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis will take on the Condors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Monterey County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Seaside, they will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alisal knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge.
