West Ranch is 1-0 against Castaic since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The West Ranch Wildcats will be playing at home against the Castaic Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
West Ranch was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They strolled past Golden Valley with points to spare, taking the game 31-13. Given West Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Golden Valley is ranked 410th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Ranch's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Mcdaniel, who threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Luke DePerno, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown.
West Ranch's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Ryan Walters and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Castaic didn't have too much trouble with Saugus on the road on Friday as they won 42-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Castaic.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Castaic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Lewis, who threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Gibson, who picked up 95 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped West Ranch to 6-3 and Castaic to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for West Ranch against Castaic when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 63-6 victory. Will West Ranch repeat their success, or does Castaic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
