Mountain Ridge fell just short of Riverton by a score of 63-60. Mountain Ridge has struggled against Riverton recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Mountain Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Lindsay, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Sylvester, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Riverton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Robbins, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robbins has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ben Barrus, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Mountain Ridge has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Riverton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Ridge will stay at home for another game and welcome Herriman at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Herriman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Mountain Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Riverton, they will be playing at home against Corner Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corner Canyon will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
