On Friday, Meridian had to suffer through a rough 56-18 loss at the hands of Superior. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Meridian has scored all season.
Jaala Stewart and Jaylee Sobotka certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Stewart scored two points along with six rebounds, while Sobotka scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Meridian's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. As for Superior, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will square off against Hampton on Tuesday. Hampton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Meridian is ranked 37th). Superior won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Centennial at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th.
