Basketball Recap: Tomas Takes a Loss

Tomas dropped down to 4-3 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Fort Bend Travis Tigers, falling 58-33. The matchup marked the Gators' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Tomas lost, don't look at Amazing Omolola. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-8 en route to 17 points and six boards. Omolola's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Odion Otoijaghale was another key player, putting up a point and six steals.

As for Fort Bend Travis, their win bumped their record up to 5-3. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season.

Fort Bend Travis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Teuton, who posted nine points and five rebounds. Teuton has also also been stellar as far as three-point shooting accuracy is concerned: she's posted one of at least 43% every time she's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anisa Allen, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Tomas has already played their next matchup, a 62-51 win against Freeman on the 21st. As for Fort Bend Travis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-31 victory against Magnolia on the 20th.
