The Roosevelt Rough Riders entered their tilt with the Ravenna Ravens with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Roosevelt came out on top against Ravenna by a score of 61-49 on Wednesday. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Ravenna is ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roosevelt's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Peeps, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. Peeps continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyrel Ellington, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Roosevelt pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Ravenna, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-6 record last season and are now at 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt is on the road again on January 5th and play against Cuyahoga Falls at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Cuyahoga Falls is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. Ravenna will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Southeast at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
