The Gilman Greyhounds pushed their score all the way to 79 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of New Hope Academy by a score of 82-79. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (67), Gilman still had to take the loss.
New Hope Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Haki Muhammad, who scored 27 points along with five assists. Muhammad is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Uriah Augare-Deal, who scored 21 points.
Gilman's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for New Hope Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-13.
Gilman will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. New Hope Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bristol at 4:30 p.m. on January 14th. Bristol is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
