Softball Recap: Lyons' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Lyons put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the North Rose-Wolcott Cougars with a sharp 16-4 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-2 on April 3rd.

Rylee Richardson and Keira Weber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Richardson pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Weber struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Richardson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Richardson got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and three stolen bases, while Weber got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jayla Bell and Addison VanLare did most of the damage at the plate: Bell went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple, while VanLare got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That triple was Bell's first of the season. Baylei Reed was another key player, going 4-for-5 with one triple.

Lyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Lyons' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for North Rose-Wolcott, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Lyons will face off against Gananda Central at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Rose-Wolcott, they will challenge Sodus at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
