With a playoff win on the line, Ellington rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Calvary Lutheran Lions 3-0. Winning may never get old, but the Whippets sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Bella Pogue paced Ellington's offense, picking up 17 kills. Pogue got some help from Tayleigh Cowin and her 36 assists. Finally, Nova O'Dell kept Ellington's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Despite the loss, Calvary Lutheran had strong showings from Sophia Boyum, who had eight digs, and Teagan Foley, who had five digs and four assists.
Ellington's victory bumped their record up to 31-4-1. As for Calvary Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-2.
Ellington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Winona on the 1st. Calvary Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
