The Hermon Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Mount Desert Island Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hermon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maine Rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Mount Desert Island is ranked 27th).
On Monday, things could have been worse for Hermon, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-16 loss to Houlton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hermon has scored all season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Mount Desert Island gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Foxcroft Academy with a sharp 57-34 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mount Desert Island has posted yet this season.
Hermon's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.8 points per game. As for Mount Desert Island, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Hermon ended up a good deal behind Mount Desert Island when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 53-38. Can Hermon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
