The Thompson Valley Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 24 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Roosevelt with a sharp 76-52 victory on Wednesday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-14.
Brady Kennison was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Thompson Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Tom Mandeville, who scored 11 points along with four blocks.
Roosevelt's loss came despite strong showings from Seppe Salvatore and Nolan Peterson. Salvatore dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds, while Peterson scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him.
Even though they lost, Roosevelt were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Thompson Valley, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Roosevelt, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thompson Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Riverdale Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Roosevelt will be home for the holidays to greet Broomfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Broomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
