John F. Kennedy Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders. On the bright side, the nine- run effort marked the Eagles' highest-scoring game to date.
Kylee Marlatt was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jasmine Ridley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katie Andre, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
John F. Kennedy Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Canton Central Catholic, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
