Football Recap: Cold Springs Piles Up the Points Against Curry

Cold Springs won the last time they faced Curry and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles blew past the Yellowjackets 44-7. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 29-point advantage.

Cold Springs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayden Black, who threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Those 261 passing yards gave Black a new career-high. Cold Springs also got a significant boost from Cason Alexander, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Cold Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ethan Day and Bradley Hancock. Day got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Curry saw an underclassman step up: freshman Noah Martinez rushed for 78 yards and one TD on only five carries.

Cold Springs has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 54.5 points this season. As for Curry, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Cold Springs has already played their next match, a 66-50 loss against Susan Moore on the 5th. As for Curry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 49-27 win against Haleyville on the 5th.
