Baseball Recap: Tremont Extends Winning Streak to Five

Tremont waltzed into their match on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Peoria Notre Dame Irish 12-2. The Turks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Chase Rhodes was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Blaine Williams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Papenhouse, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Tremont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria Notre Dame only posted an OBP of .360.

Tremont's record now sits at 9-1. As for Peoria Notre Dame, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Tremont will square off against Limestone at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they will challenge Normal Community at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ironmen will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
