The Roane County Yellowjackets waltzed into their matchup Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They breezed by Sweetwater on the road to the tune of 70-37. Roane County might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 23 points or more this season.
Lilly Woodruff and Kendall Tyler certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Woodruff scored 15 points along with eight rebounds, while Tyler scored ten points. The match was Woodruff's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Roane County pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Sweetwater, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Roane County will head out on the road to face off against Cumberland County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roane County in Tennessee (Cumberland County is ranked 19th, while Roane County is ranked 107th). Sweetwater will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Polk County at 6:00 a.m. on January 5, 2024.
