They will take on the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at. The Master's Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Lake Lure Classical Academy is ranked 133rd).
Last Friday, The Master's Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-30 to Challenger. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points The Master's Academy has scored all season.
Aiden Holiday put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 13 points. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Waugh, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Lake Lure Classical Academy put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Mountain View Christian Academy 79-39 at home. Considering Lake Lure Classical Academy has won seven matches by more than 20 points this season, two weeks ago's blowout was nothing new.
Lake Lure Classical Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Barker out in front who scored 19 points. The contest was Barker's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Da'Zirus Watkins was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals.
The Master's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: The Master's Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Lake Lure Classical Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 28 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
