Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Hayes Pacers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their rough 34-14 loss to Miamisburg on Friday might stick with them for a while.
Hayes' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Koslow, who picked up 176 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Jake Lowman, who threw for 298 yards and a touchdown.
Miamisburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Conner Smith out in front who rushed for 152 yards on only ten carries. Smith really tore up the turf during one magnificent 88-yard run. Keith Henry was another key contributor, rushing for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Another reason for the win was Miamisburg's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Fletcher Rose and Peyton Hoskins who racked up four sacks between them.
Hayes' loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Miamisburg, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Hayes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Miamisburg will head out on the road to face off against Olentangy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olentangy will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
