The Blue Island Eisenhower Cardinals are taking a road trip to take on the Bloom Blazing Trojan at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Blue Island Eisenhower has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Bloom will arrive with three straight victories.
Things were looking good for Blue Island Eisenhower after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 13-3 to Tinley Park.

Adriel Castro made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Blue Island Eisenhower's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 2-9 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bloom). They were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over Thornridge on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Blazing Trojan with their most commanding win of the season.
D'Majae Montgomery made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Bloom got a massive performance out of Christian Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Mendoza has posted since back in March. Heladio Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Bloom's record now sits at 8-9. As for Blue Island Eisenhower, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Blue Island Eisenhower has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bloom struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Blue Island Eisenhower might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Bloom in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
