It was a good run, but the Woodlan Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 60-53 to Jay County. Woodlan has struggled against Jay County recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Taylor Kneubuhler and Brooke Kneubuhler certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Kneubuhler scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds, while Kneubuhler scored 17 points along with 6 assists. Kneubuhler scored a full 30.2% of Woodlan's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Alix Jacquay was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Woodlan were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jay County only pulled down 11.
Jay County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Molly Muhlenkamp, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Breanna Dirksen, who scored 10 points along with 4 steals.
Woodlan has yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 4-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Jay County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodlan will square off against Eastside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jay County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on November 28th. Hopefully Northeastern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.
