Basketball Recap: Centura Takes a Loss

Centura played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 69-32 loss at the hands of the Fillmore Central Panthers. The Centurions have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Centura lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Barrett Fries, who posted six points along with five boards and four blocks. Weston Kroeger was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Centura smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Fillmore Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniel Stoner, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiffin Theobald, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Centura's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Fillmore Central, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Centura wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-43 victory against Central Valley on the 17th. Fillmore Central and Adams Central will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Adams Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
