The Coleman Comets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Breckenridge Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Coleman came into Wednesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They slipped by Vestaburg 28-27 on Wednesday. The win was just what Coleman needed coming off of a 35-15 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coleman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily VanSickle, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and four blocks. Maddy Miller was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though Breckenridge has not done well against Sacred Heart Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Breckenridge took down Sacred Heart Academy 40-24. The win was all the more spectacular given Breckenridge's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Sacred Heart Academy is ranked 106th).
Coleman's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11. As for Breckenridge, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Coleman was taken down by Breckenridge 55-16 in their previous meeting back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Coleman was down 30-7.
