The David Thibodaux Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Hicks Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with David Thibodaux sitting on three straight victories and Hicks on four.
David Thibodaux took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against North Vermilion, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. David Thibodaux won by a run and slipped past North Vermilion 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since April 9, 2024.
Morgan Malveaux spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camri Jones, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Mia Ewing was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Hicks hadn't done well against Florien recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hicks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Florien 4-3.
Courtlyn Dousay was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.
In other pitching news, Katie-Grace Quinn looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
Back at the plate, Abby Addison was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliah Gordy, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases.
David Thibodaux's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Hicks, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
