It was a good run, but the East St. Louis Flyers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 66-59 to Collinsville. While losing is never fun, East St. Louis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Collinsville is ranked second).
When it comes to explaining why East St. Louis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Davis Bynum. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Derrion Enlow, who scored 9 points along with 5 assists.
Collinsville had a senior duo take command as Jamorie Wysinger scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds and Zach Chambers scored 22 points along with 8 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Wysinger has scored at least 25% of Collinsville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyree Brister, who scored 7 points.
East St. Louis' loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Collinsville, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East St. Louis will face off against Belleville West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Collinsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Granite City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
