The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Leading Edge Academy - GEC in their matchups with San Tan Charter: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Leading Edge Academy - GEC lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amani Francisco. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with two steals. Francisco hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Samuel Sutherland, who scored nine points.
San Tan Charter found their leader in underclassman Peyton Lubash, who scored 26 points along with five assists. Lubash hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. Zaire Richardson was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Leading Edge Academy - GEC's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6. As for San Tan Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leading Edge Academy - GEC will challenge San Carlos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Carlos will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Leading Edge Academy - GEC is ranked 98th). As for San Tan Charter, they will head out on the road to take on Gilbert Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
