Boulder is 1-8 against Poudre since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The two teams will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Boulder focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
Boulder's recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their third straight loss. They fell 48-41 to Legacy. Boulder has not had much luck with Legacy recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite their loss, Boulder saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Gaby Mccollester, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Mccollester has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi Oder, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Poudre strolled past Fairview with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 58-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Poudre.
Poudre's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaqueline Forrest, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Maggie Foster was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Boulder dropped their record down to 6-9 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Poudre, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Boulder have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Poudre struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Boulder was dealt a bruising 50-16 loss at the hands of Poudre when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Boulder was down 28-7.
