With a playoff game on the line, the Gilmer Bobcats rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against Adairsville by a score of 35-28 (the very same score they lost by the week prior).
Gilmer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Douglas Callihan led the charge by rushing for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Callihan was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Gilmer also got a significant boost from Issac Rellinger, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 110 yards.
When it comes to explaining why Adairsville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamarian Pullum. Despite the final result, he rushed for 112 yards and four touchdowns.
Gilmer has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Adairsville, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.
Gilmer will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Monroe Area at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Monroe Area will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Adairsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
