The Bolles Bulldogs will challenge the Mandarin Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bolles is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Bolles gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against IMG Academy Gold by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Jaxson Richter tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.
At the plate, Jackson Geist was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Will Arndt was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mandarin and Stanton meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Everything went Mandarin's way against Stanton as Mandarin made off with a 12-2 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Bernard spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, Mandarin got a massive performance out of CJ Murphy, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. Mandarin is undefeated when Murphy posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cole Rusak, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Mandarin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.8.
Bolles' win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mandarin, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.
Everything went Bolles' way against Mandarin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Bolles made off with an 11-0 victory. Does Bolles have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mandarin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
