The Hi-Plains Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Miami-Yoder with a sharp 57-37 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Hi-Plains has posted since December 8, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hi-Plains to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bex Seaman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Seaman has scored at least a third of Hi-Plains' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hugo Vara, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Miami-Yoder lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being James Orozco, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Howard, who scored eight points.
Miami-Yoder struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hi-Plains' win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Miami-Yoder, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Hi-Plains will head out on the road to face off against Cheyenne Wells at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cheyenne Wells will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Miami-Yoder, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Monument Academy at 5:30 p.m.
