Golden had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-run drubbing they dealt Montbello on Saturday. Golden put the hurt on Montbello with a sharp 21-1 win.
Taden Svendsen and Austin Maleki dominated on the mound. Meanwhile, John Carroll Catholic fell victim to Jesuit and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 8-0. The Rams' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
John Carroll Catholic saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camrin Weeks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. The dominant performance gave Weeks a new career-high in hits. Another was Taggert Cameron, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Golden pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for John Carroll Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
