The Betsy Layne Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Floyd Central. Betsy Layne has struggled against Floyd Central recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tanner Martin, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Kidd, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Leading Floyd Central to victory were Braden Moore and Chris Spriggs. Moore scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Spriggs scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Spriggs has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Logan Meade, who scored five points.
Betsy Layne has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Floyd Central, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Betsy Layne will face off against Johnson Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson Central will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Floyd Central on the road again on Tuesday and play against Letcher County Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Letcher County Central is ranked 91st, while Floyd Central is ranked 114th).
