Mira Mesa moved up to 360 from 387 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Eastern. The Marauders were able to make the jump by falling to St. Augustine 41-7.
The Saints took down Mira Mesa 41-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. JoJo Hudson threw for 54 yards and one touchdown and ran for 17 yards in the win.
Lincoln's dynamic duo of Ian Hardman and Tyree Robinson proved tough for Cathedral Catholic to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hardman threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns and Robinson had 85 yards receiving. Kevon Mitchell helped Lincoln's passing attack out by catching five balls for 84 yards.
Joe Maalouf made the biggest impact on defense this week as St. Augustine topped Gary Blevins' team. The 5-foot-11 senior forced one fumble and grabbed 2.5 sacks.
Elijah Preston was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 99 yards as Richard Sanchez's team lost to the Dons. Teammate Maalouf added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Hardman of Lincoln is the league leader in passing yards this season with 761. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, Cathedral Catholic's Tony Johnson has rushed for 539 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Xavier Williams. The Cathedral Catholic star has 21 catches for 416 yards.
The top two teams in Eastern will face off this week when first place St. Augustine takes on second place Cathedral Catholic. Last week, the Saints beat the Marauders, while Sean Doyle's team defeated David Dunn's team.
